Hi Bookgirl64
I've just recently joined this website so apologies for the rather late reply to your very valid concern...singles, what to do?
I'm involved in a relationship which is testing me from all angles especially now that i've decided to take my relationship with God from mediocre to SUPERB.
Because i'm now looking at everything through the "God or Jesus-lens" things are not looking too good in this relationship and i've also started asking myself: is it better to serve God alone or to carry on with a relationship your spiritual intuition is telling you is not right in the eyes of God? It sounds like a no-brainer but in the real world it's not that easy especially for some of us who fell off the wagon (spiritually) a long time ago and are now seriously trying to get back on again. I actually miss being on my own and i've realised that until you've reached a certain level of spiritual maturity it might not be such a bad idea to steer clear of romantic involvements. I'm putting God first and guess what? it is affecting the relationship. Immediately i became more aware, i started asking "Is this really the man God wants me to spend the rest of my life with?" The man i am seeing even asked, "Where's this God of yours?" as we were watching a wildlife programme and i was marvelling at the splendour created by God. In fact i remarked, "How can anyone look at nature in all its majesty and then insist that there's no God?" and his reply was to challenge me to locate Him (i wasn't even aware that he questions God's existence). I was shocked to say the least.
Those are just some of my experiences...you are welcome to share yours and we can support each other as single Christians on this journey and i think it's also important to define what it is that we really want and trust God to deliver on it.
